About us

Our community is made up of people from all walks of life, men and women of any age and varying talents, who passionate about their community they live in, and love share and hanging out together - lots of laughter and banter as well as a love for helping others. Our club has a number of volunteers who have become members and are part of the club's business management. 

There are several aspects to each of our community projects, so there's always something needing to be done so whether you have say 2 hours each month or 4 hours of a Tuesday, we encourage you to check out each of our projects in relation to your life's passion and giftings.

Our members and community volunteers love connecting with like-minded folks. Volunteering does not mean you have to become a member of our club.   Membership of a Lions Club is by invitation.

At Twin Rivers Lions Club Inc, we offer registered volunteers a variety of volunteer opportunities that allow them to contribute within their passion and professional skills. We are an all-inclusive workplace.

ADMINISTRATION: 

We are able to use your professional skills in administration, graphic design, photography, marketing, and digital content. Whether you're an experienced professional or just starting out, your involvement helps strengthen our community and supports our ongoing projects.  

At Twin Rivers Lions Club Inc, we offer a range of volunteer opportunities that allow members to utilize their passion in reading and encourage a love of reading. Your involvement helps us serve East Gippsland’s children and support local projects, making a meaningful difference in our community. Whether you're experienced or just starting out, your dedication is valued and impactful. BOOK EXCHANGE:

If you love books or have library experience and you have a few hours each week to give, we have a spot for you in our Community Book Exchange - welcoming visitors on arrival, sorting books returned, sanitizing covers and placing them on the shelves or in the reserve shelving. During open hours you may need to check the reserves shelving for titles/authors customers are wanting to borrow. Our community book exchange is a free SWAP + DONATE basis with your assistance provided as needed.  The Book Exchange contains FICTION, AUSTRALIAN STORIES, ROMANCE, and LARGE PRINT.  We also encourage grandparents, parents, care givers and children to select 2 or 3 free children's books to take home for the children to extend their enjoyment of learning. You will need to be physically fit as the role involves carrying books, book boxes and bending.

 CHILDREN'S LITERACY - 123 READ 2 ME - East Gippsland:

This program relies on donations of children's books from the East Gippsland community.  

123READ2ME Donation Bins are located at SchoolWorks - Bairnsdale, and other locations on rotating basis; and at the Twin Rivers Lions Community Shed, Swan Reach Recreation Reserve (Tuesdays between 10 and 2, 3rd Sunday of each month between 9 and noon.

Ring 0432 188 295 to arrange pick-ups of larger numbers of books.

Because of the generosity of our local community our club has an amazing stash of "as new" and new fabrics and bric-a-brac.  We also encourage crafters who enjoy creating beautiful gifts and homewares made from various types of natural resources. We have everything you need in storage as well as machines, cutting tables and other crafting 

resources. Our volunteers support our club by making items in the comfort of their own home as well coordinating as a group.  We have some volunteers who help with bulk cutting of materials; ironing, quality control, packaging and pricing ready for our community fundraising efforts, including our craft sales at our community shed. 

 We also have those who love to knit and crochet items for sale.

We DO NOT DISCARD left over scraps as these are repurposed for filling children's size Ottermans.
