About us

Our community is made up of people from all walks of life, men and women of any age and varying talents, who are passionate about their community they live in, and love sharing and hanging out together - lots of laughter and banter as well as a love for helping others. Our club has a number of volunteers who have become members and are part of the club's business management. 

There are several aspects to each of our community projects, so there's always something needing to be done so whether you have say 2 hours each month or 4 hours of a Tuesday, we encourage you to check out each of our projects in relation to your life's passion and giftings.

Our members and community volunteers love connecting with like-minded folks. Volunteering does not mean you have to become a member of our club.   Membership of a Lions Club is by invitation. 

TOGETHER we all help to MAKE A POSITIVE DIFFERENCE.

Get involved in our community and make a difference. We have a variety of volunteer opportunities available, from organizing events to supporting local causes. A key one is to build up our community volunteer team working in the book exchange.  There are a couple of options 

1} based at the shed on a Tuesday and/or 3rd Sunday

2} community based (no further than Bairnsdale or Lakes Entrance) we swap over books at some small book swaps we have in the community. 

Because of the generosity of our local community our club has an amazing stash of "as new" and new fabrics and bric-a-brac.  We also encourage crafters who enjoy creating beautiful gifts and homewares made from various types of natural resources. We have everything you need in storage as well as machines, cutting tables and other crafting 

resources. Our volunteers support our club by making items in the comfort of their own home as well coordinating as a group.  We have some volunteers who help with bulk cutting of materials; ironing, quality control, packaging and pricing ready for our community fundraising efforts, including our craft sales at our community shed. 

 We also have those who love to knit and crochet items for sale.

We DO NOT DISCARD left over scraps as these are repurposed for filling children's size Cushions.

: This program relies on donations of children's books from the East Gippsland community.  

123READ2ME Donation Bins are located at SchoolWorks - Bairnsdale, and other locations on rotating basis; and at the Twin Rivers Lions Community Shed, Swan Reach Recreation Reserve (Tuesdays between 10 and 2, 3rd Sunday of each month between 9 and noon.

Ring 0432 188 295 to arrange pick-ups of larger numbers of books, and for smaller quantities your nearest dropoff location.
