The organization also emphasizes good governance and citizenship, encouraging members to actively participate in civic, cultural, social, and moral welfare initiatives.
The association seeks to unite clubs through friendship, fellowship, and mutual understanding, providing a forum for open discussion on public matters while avoiding partisan politics and sectarian religion.
Lions Club International encourages service-minded individuals to serve their communities without personal financial reward, promoting efficiency and high ethical standards in commerce, professions, and public works.
Additional purposes include supporting the disabled, disadvantaged, and infirm, both directly and indirectly, and empowering volunteers to meet humanitarian needs, encourage peace, and promote international understanding/
Members are also guided to uphold personal integrity, loyalty, and ethical conduct in their vocations, ensuring that success is achieved without compromising self-respect or fairness.

Our History
Twin Rivers Lions Club Inc is dedicated to fostering a sense of belonging and unity among community as well as responding to the feedback for inclusive community projects including a Book Swap as well as environmentally sustainable programs such as Twin Rivers Boomerang Bags and Car Boot markets.

Twin Rivers Lions Club Inc is dedicated to fostering a sense of belonging and unity among community as well as responding to the feedback for inclusive community projects including a Book Swap as well as environmentally sustainable programs such as Twin Rivers Boomerang Bags and Car Boot markets.
Being incorporated in mid 2018 the club was in a good position to respond to community needs during and after the 2018/19 East Gippsland Bushfires starting with arranging a public meeting for the Sarsfield community following their devastation from the fires. Followed quickly by responding to requests for wildlife pouches resulting with a massive publicitgy campaign where we were able to supply over 3,000 pouches. By March COVID epidemic started and requests from two organizations resulted in making and supplying over 2,000 triple layered dotton masks.
In addition to these significant community projects, we have been able to supply a growing quantity of reusable conference bags for organizing over the last few years starting with 250 per year and increasing to 600 this year.
Our newsletters tell our story over these years however; we have included here our President's Review of 2025/26. Twin Rivers Lions complete another successful year. Based at the Swan Reach Recreation Reserve, Twin Rivers Lions Club members and volunteers have been busy over the past twelve months, engaged in a range of community service projects.
Patronage at the Club’s Community Book Exchange continues to grow, with over 3500 novels borrowed by locals over the year. Books donated by the public to the exchange also continues to grow, enabling the Club to donate some of these back to local charities. Having the Exchange open on the third Sunday of the month in addition to every Tuesday has proved successful, allowing those who cannot come on Tuesdays to attend the library. All are appreciative of the assistance provided by Club Members and appreciate the professional way the books are presented. The Club is also expanding deliveries of books to caravan parks, lifestyle villages and community health centres.
A second Club service project operated by the Club is the pre-loved children’s book service, 123Read2Me. These Childrens books are collected from a number of charity services and from SchoolWorks, Bairnsdale. The books are then checked, graded and the covers sanitized, before being packed for delivery. The Club has almost completed the last deliveries for the year, delivering 7500 pre-loved children’s books to 55 Primary schools, pre-schools and day care centers across East Gippsland. Club President Peter Payne said that without the support of a number of local businesses and agencies, this service would not be possible.
A small group of ladies have been busy making over 800 Boomerang Bags and other items throughout the year. A record for the Club. Some have been sewn on Tuesdays while others are sewn at home. Bags and craft items are made from donated fabrics, some of which were destined for landfill. Craft items and bags are available for sale at our community shed in Swan Reach and will be available for purchase at the November 29th Christmas Art and Craft Market at the Johnsonville Hall.
“These projects are a remarkable achievement for such a small rural Lions Club, and we look forward to another successful 2026/2027 Lions year with the support our community partners” Peter said.
